72% Carignane and 28% Mataro sourced from the Evangelho Vineyard.
The Evangelho Vineyard is one of the most special vineyards on the planet, and there are few superlatives that truly pay it justice. Situated between a Burger King and a PG&E plant, acres of beachy sand are speckled with 140-year-old, head-trained Carignane vines. These little bushes thrive here, creating supple, flavorful grapes year after year. Contra Costa County is also a premier growing region for Mataro (also know as Mourvèdre).
And We All Grow Old is a new vintage and blend within our Portrait Series, which pays homage to small-town Americana. It’s our chance to play with and try out different blends and blending techniques from the vineyards we hold dear. Each year, the blend may be a little different, but the story is the same. Hard work and lots of love make for great tasting wine from greatly admired vineyards.
A stunning dark ruby red color in the glass, this wine exudes gorgeous aromas of cherry, licorice, spices and dark florals along with tart black raspberry. Cherry, fresh currants, boysenberry, and black-plum-skin flavors meet with white pepper and lavender touches. The very expressive concentration of fruit mixes with bright flavors of medium acid and dusty tannins.
