2017 Hill of Thunder Red Wine

On a sequestered and beautiful Amador County ranch, the Shake Ridge Vineyard is the result of decades of experience, serious passion, and good old-fashioned hard work. Once a prominent viticulturist for some of Napa's most renowned vineyards, Ann Kraemer turned to the mountains when it was time to plant her own. The 46-acre vineyard straddles a ridge way up above 1,700 feet and is home to some of the finest grapes we've ever seen.

Our second vintage of the Hill of Thunder Red Wine blends 50% Primitivo, 35% Zinfandel, & 15% Barbera into an alluring, bright and juicy wine. Heavenly aromas of pomegranate, cherry, wet stone and ripe red berries move to luscious flavors of bramble berries and rhubarb crisp.  The acidity from the Barbera makes this the perfect food pairing wine. Soft tannins and a bright, juicy, round mouthfeel will leave you delighted sip after sip.

I came to T-Vine for the Zin but stayed for the Hill of Thunder. I have a lot of favorites from this winery, which is why I am a member, but their Hills of Thunders hits all the right notes for me. It's a wonderful fruity and crisp win that I think goes well with any occasion. I have paired it with a chicken salad before which was amazing but can probably stand up to heartier meals without issue.

If there is only one wine to try, definitely try to make it this one.

When I first tried this wine, I started singing that song by Imagine Dragons "Thunder, feel the thunder, lighting and the thunder" in my head...and let me tell you, that song is fitting for this wine. Enjoy it alone or pair it with food, but first let this baby breathe a bit, or aerate it. It's a very smooth, yet bold red. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of these black label T-Vine wines.
