These three wines come from one of the most sacred vineyards in California. The Evangelho Vineyard was planted in the late 1800s and is the last standing reminder of what once was and what still can be. This set is very special and speaks to the heritage of California wine growing.
2017 And We All Grow Old - A blend of Carignane and Mataro, it is stunning dark ruby red color in the glass. This wine exudes gorgeous aromas of cherry, licorice, spices and dark florals along with tart black raspberry. Cherry, fresh currants, boysenberry, and black-plum-skin flavors meet with white pepper and lavender touches. The very expressive concentration of fruit mixes with bright flavors of medium acid and playful tannins.
2015 Carignane - It’s hard to imagine a more tempting wine than the Evangelho Vineyard Carignane. Beaming cherry and fresh currants laced with eastern spices ramble on the palate while showing fruit-forward flavors with medium acidity and dusty tannins. Savor the wonderful length on the finish.
2015 Mataro - Understated elegance is how we describe this wine, but we will let you be the judge. The nose is full of dried violet and tart black raspberry aromas. It's both bright and very mineral on the palate, where boysenberry and black-plum-skin flavors meet with white pepper and lavender touches. The very expressive concentration of fruit is juxtaposed by brilliant acidity, making it an ideal pairing for poultry or pork, or soft stinky cheeses.
