The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes on our estate are planted into distinct vineyard blocks: Tyson’s block is planted entirely to clone # 337, a highly regarded Bordeaux clone that produces small dense berries with great complexities, while Marleigh’s block is planted to both clone # 7 & # 8, the great workhorse clones of California which add great fruit purity, deep color and strong acidity and finally our Mud’s Kitchen block is planted to both Clone #7 and #15 (noted for its beautiful tannin structure) giving us an array of diversity when crafting our final blend.
Generous and pure on the nose with a wave of dark cassis, pomegranate, earthy/mineral graphite, with hints of rosemary, caramel, star anise and leather. This vintage shows great complexity and depth of flavors with a dark-fruit core, vanilla, caramel, creme brûlée, and dark chocolate rounding out the palate. Broad entry with an immense fill that coats every corner of the mouth, great overall structure, balance and a long, lingering finish of well-developed tannins. This wine will continue to age gracefully for the next 10 to 15 years.
