There is an old saying comparing grapevines to poets, and that is, “the more they struggle and are stressed, the more interesting and noteworthy are the results they produce.”
It is this belief that gave way to our newest wine “Poets Corner” which is the name given to our micro block of Clone 15 Cabernet Sauvignon planted on just 0.86 acres (1335 vines) in the northeast corner of the James Cole property, where the sandy/gravelly soils show poor fertility and yet great drainage which cause these vines to struggle and put more energy into searching for nutrients and water and resulting in low yielding, small intense and flavorful berries that, just like the best poets, reveal themselves in an intense and imaginative way.
Showing the elegant and seamless style of our estate with freshness and heft, our debut vintage of "Poets Corner" showcases aromas of red berry fruits, cocoa powder, sarsaparilla, leather, spice, and vanilla. Dark chocolate, raspberries, cloves, and cassis flavors add to the multi-textured palate. The subtle minerality and mouthwatering acidity gives length to the overall beauty and harmonious complexity of this astounding wine.
