She dreams of mermaids and motorcycles, and meeting someone who can dance.
A blend of 54% Verdelho, 29% Godello and 17% Treixadura, Mermaids & Motorcycles is a Galacian-inspired white wine here to make your daydreams a reality.
Looking for the perfect wine for your next beach day? Look no further. On the nose, this wine reminds us of wet rocks after a spring rain. The palate is creamy yet bright with those lemon curd and dole-whip vibes with a touch of salinity. We have no doubt this is a bottle you’ll be reaching for time and time again this summer. Whether you are shucking oysters or grilling up your fresh catch of the day, Mermaids & Motorcycles screams for a seafood pairing.
For the blend, we head back to the Sierra Foothills to the Clondaire and Metate Vineyards. This gold country region is known for its varied microclimates, elevations, and unique geology that provide a perfect environment for growing unique varieties, much like those found in the bottle. While many Calaveras County vineyards focus on red varieties, Metate owner Michael Stange has some of the rarest plantings in the United States, including one of the few plantings of Godello and Treixadura. After plucking the golden fruit from the vines in mid-September, we fermented the Verdelho, Godello and Treixadura for three weeks prior to moving the young wine to neutral French oak barrels. Mermaids & Motorcycles was bottled on February 21st after barrel aging for four and a half months.
The label features a vintage photo of a woman standing on a rock looking out at the ocean. We like to imagine she's dreaming of all the great things to come.
