Somewhere Out On That Horizon Case Special

Somewhere out there on that horizon,
Out beyond the neon lights,
I know there must be something better,
But there's nowhere else in sight
It's survival in the city,
When you live from day to day,
City streets don't have much pity,
When you're down, that's where you'll stay.

– Joe Walsh "The City"

There's something out on that horizon. Something more. Something unknown...

This Italian blend brings our old friends Primitivo and Sangiovese back to the table along with a new guest, Negroamaro – a southern Italian grape whose name translates to “black” and “bitter." It gives this wine notes of dark chocolate, coffee, and stout. Primitivo, otherwise known as the alter-ego of Zinfandel, lends flavors of ripe blackberries and blueberries, while the Sangiovese adds great acidity and notes of red fruit.

The grapes are sourced from Fox Hill Vineyard, a small 60-acre parcel located 8 miles north of the town of Hopland along the banks of the upper Russian River. Planted between 700 and 1,400 feet, owners/managers Lowell and Barbara Stone have devoted the entire property to Italian and Port varietals like Dolcetto, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, and Tocai Friulano. The vineyard's gravelly loam soil consistently produces well-structured wines with high-quality fruit from low-yielding vines.
